Give Zakat! So You Bring Life & Ensure Growth! PDF Imprimer Envoyer
Zakat will be received by the 8 categories of people as defined by the Holy Quran and the Sunna.
Our possessions are purified by setting aside a proportion for those in need.
As defined by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad peace and prayer be upon him, Zakat should be given locally to support those in need. The 8 categories of those who have the right to receive Zakat are everywhere and especially locally in our city and in Canada. Only if there is a surplus we bring it to needy people outside Canada. Our focus is to develop our local community and to him new established families, kids and local institutions in development and growth.
How we distribute Zakat (zakat-ul-mal)?
  1. The masakeen: These people do not have anything, so they are in need of asking others for food and clothing.
  2. The fuqaraa: These people may have money, but it is not sufficient for their basic needs. Others have stated that these people have nothing.
  3. Zakat collectors: These are persons that the association employs to collect the zakat.
  4. Allah's cause:  General opinion is that this term embraces every kind of  struggle for a righteous cause. Including Islamic centers, schools, projects to promote Islam and protect its voice in the media and in the society.
  5. The debtors: Debtors are those people or institutions burdened by debts because of personal needs or social necessity.
  6. Wayfarer: The wayfarer is the traveler stranded in a foreign land and is in need of money to achieve his objective like new locally established family.
  7. Freeing captives: in this case, zakat can be used to give people temporary relief along with essential resources to acquire training, equipment, and material (for example small business can be created through small loans).
  8. Attracting hearts: Zakat is also to be paid to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined towards Islam.
